A creator can deliver a great Reel and still lose the next deal because the brand cannot tell what happened. A one-page report should answer the question the brand paid for: did the content get relevant attention, start conversations, bring site visitors or generate verified sales? Those are different outcomes.

Agree on the scorecard before the campaign

For awareness, the brand may care about reach, watch behaviour, shares and audience fit. For consideration, it may ask for saves, product questions and site visits. For direct response, it needs traceable clicks, checkout visits and confirmed orders. Pick primary and secondary metrics in the brief. If the brand expects sales, request a tracked destination or campaign code and agree who will provide order data. Without access to merchant records, do not promise a sales number.

Use one reporting window

Record the Reel URL, publication time, paid or gifted disclosure, campaign goal, content variants, destination and measurement window. Export or screenshot platform insights at the end of the window. Keep the same window for clicks and sales where possible. If the merchant reports orders later, add an explicitly dated update rather than silently changing the first report.

Example: a skincare Reel gets 42,000 plays, 4,200 accounts reached, 310 saves, 97 product-link clicks and 12 merchant-confirmed orders. Those numbers are illustrative, and the denominators matter: plays may include repeat viewing, reached accounts are not link visitors, and merchant-attributed orders are not necessarily incremental purchases. Report the source of every figure.

Add the lesson the brand cannot see in a dashboard

What did viewers ask? Which demonstration answered objections? Did they ask about shade, shipping or ingredient details? Quote or paraphrase comments with privacy in mind. Note the creative hook and any production constraints. Then recommend one next test: a different first frame, a clearer product demonstration, or a new destination for an obvious question. Do not turn a single campaign into a universal algorithm claim.

Handle paid usage separately

If the brand wants to amplify the post or reuse the video elsewhere, check the rights agreement. Performance reporting does not silently grant extended usage. A clean report can support renewal while keeping commercial rights explicit.

Use the Reel sales ledger for the underlying event definitions. The brand-facing page should be short enough to read in one sitting and honest enough to withstand follow-up questions.

Frequently asked

Can I claim my Reel generated sales from Instagram insights alone?
No. Instagram insights do not confirm off-platform orders. Use merchant or affiliate order data with a stated attribution method.
What if the brand will not share sales data?
Report the outcomes you can verify—reach, engagement and tracked clicks—and explicitly mark sales as unavailable rather than estimating them as fact.
