Formula: (likes + comments) / followers × 100. Average across your last 6-9 posts for a stable read.
Benchmarked against the Micro tier (10K – 100K).
Want higher engagement?
Comments compound. Every comment that asks for the link is a DM you owe — and a follow-up conversation if you answer. Creator Lane converts those comments into DMs automatically, which lifts comment volume on every future post.
See how it worksWhat your engagement rate actually means
Engagement rate (ER) is the percentage of your followers who interact with a typical post — likes plus comments divided by follower count. It's the number brands look at before anything else because it measures how much your audience actually cares, not just how big it is. Benchmarks shift by tier: nano creators (under 10K) typically see 3-6%, micro (10K-100K) lands around 1.5-3%, mid-tier (100K-500K) averages 1-2%, and mega accounts (500K+) often sit below 1%. A 'good' rate is one that's above the median for your tier. If yours is below, the fix is almost always content quality and posting consistency — not buying followers or engagement pods. This calculator uses the standard (likes + comments) / followers formula. Some tools include saves and shares, which inflates the number; brands know this, so stick with the standard formula when quoting your rate on media kits.
