Comment-to-DM funnel that books webinar seats with reminders. Three-stage flow: register, confirm, day-of reminder.
Webinars live or die on show-up rate. A typical free webinar registered through a landing page sees 25-35% show-up. The same webinar registered through a comment-to-DM funnel with two reminder DMs sees 45-60% show-up. The reason is that DM-registered attendees have a stronger relationship with you than landing-page-registered attendees — they actively engaged with your Reel first.
This template runs the full three-stage flow: (1) the registration DM with the signup link, (2) a confirmation DM after they register, (3) a day-of reminder DM with the live link. Stage 3 requires the "CONFIRMED_EVENT_UPDATE" Message Tag — see FAQ for setup.

Tips that move the conversion needle
The reminder stack is where most webinar funnels leak. Set up all three stages or don't bother running this template.
- Use the CONFIRMED_EVENT_UPDATE Message Tag for the day-of reminder. This is the only Message Tag that lets you DM outside the 24-hour window for legitimate event reminders. Without it, registrations more than 24 hours pre-event can't receive a same-day reminder DM.
- Ask for the biggest question on registration. Three benefits: it primes engagement, it gives you content for the live session, and it lets you address objections live (which converts the pitch at the end 30-40% better).
- Reminder DM at T-30 minutes, not T-1 hour. 30 minutes is the sweet spot — close enough to drive immediate action, far enough that people who need to step away from work can plan it.
- Replay window matters. 48 hours creates urgency. 7-day evergreen replays show up-rate drops to 5-10% of the original cohort. If your pitch depends on live energy, keep the replay tight.
- Send the replay even to people who showed up live. 60-70% of live attendees rewatch part of the replay if you send it. Higher rewatch = higher pitch conversion.
- Track the funnel: comments → registrations → live attendees → buyers. Your show-up rate will tell you whether the reminder DMs are working. Your buyer rate tells you whether the pitch is.
FAQ
What's the CONFIRMED_EVENT_UPDATE Message Tag?
Instagram allows certain Message Tags that bypass the 24-hour messaging window. CONFIRMED_EVENT_UPDATE is for confirmed event reminders — appointments, webinars, registrations. You need to apply for it in Meta Business Suite under "Advanced Messaging Permissions." Approval is automatic for accounts that have demonstrated legitimate event-update use.
What if my account doesn't have advanced messaging permissions yet?
Send the reminder DM at T-22 hours (just before the 24h window closes) instead of T-30 minutes. Most registrations happen 24-72 hours before the event, so 70-80% of your audience will get reminded inside the window. The remaining 20-30% need a Message Tag or won't get the day-of reminder.
Should I host the registration form on a landing page or capture email in the DM?
Landing page. DM-only email capture (asking for the address in the DM reply) captures 60-70% of registrants but you can't pre-populate it into your email platform with custom fields. Landing-page capture (Mailchimp, ConvertKit, Beehiiv signup) integrates cleanly.
What email platform integrates best with Creator Lane?
Anything with a Zapier integration — ConvertKit, ActiveCampaign, Mailchimp, Beehiiv, Kit, Drip. Creator Lane exposes a "registered" webhook that fires the email platform's "add to list + tag" action.
How do I handle people who register late (less than 30 minutes before the event)?
The day-of reminder DM should fire on a 5-minute delay after registration, not on a fixed timer. Creator Lane supports both modes — for late registrants, "fire 5 min after registration if event is within 6 hours" is the safest rule.
Can I run multiple webinars from the same campaign?
No — one webinar, one campaign. The reminder DM is event-specific, so mixing webinars in a campaign breaks the reminder timing. Clone the campaign for each event.
What show-up rate should I target?
45-55% live show-up is good. 60%+ is excellent. Below 35% and your reminder cadence is broken — check that Stage 2 and Stage 3 DMs actually fired by spot-checking 5 registrants in the Creator Lane DM log.
Should I gate the replay behind another email?
No — gate it behind clicking "Watch replay" in the DM. Re-gating people who already gave you their email burns trust. Use the replay click as a behavioral signal in your CRM instead.
