Fix a correctable delivery detail in an editor; regenerate when the underlying visual action or identity is wrong and cannot be responsibly repaired. The decision should protect already approved elements. Repeatedly regenerating a mostly correct shot can introduce new defects, while hiding a factual visual error with an overlay may leave the audience misled.
Documentation basis: Kling 4 on fal; Creating with Runway Gen-4.5. The recommendations below are editorial analysis and original teaching exercises, not a hands-on product benchmark or a forecast of search performance.
Which changes belong in a normal editor?
Trimming, editable text, sound replacement and some framing adjustments are natural editing tasks when source quality permits. Check that the correction does not hide important content. A small typo in an overlay should not require recreating an otherwise approved scene.
Which defects require a new visual?
Changed product geometry, incorrect action or an unintended person may require replacing the shot. Do not conceal a material product error with a fast cut if the scene still implies a false demonstration. Use real footage when fidelity is essential and generation remains unreliable.
How should a revision request be written?
Name one desired change and the elements that must remain fixed. Keep the original approved file. Whether using a generation edit mode or a normal editor, compare the full result afterward because an apparently local change can affect other parts of the clip.
What is a sensible retry limit?
Set a time or spending limit before attempting repairs. Stop when repeated attempts fail the same nonnegotiable condition. A simpler shot or a practical recording may be a better production decision than continuing because the previous attempts already consumed credits.
How should the final choice be documented?
Record the defect, attempted correction, accepted version and any remaining limitation. Keep the final file clearly separated from experiments. This makes future revisions easier and prevents an attractive but rejected draft from being used accidentally.
A practical exercise
Classify three defects: a misspelled editable end card, a product handle changing shape and background audio that masks the voice. Fix the text and mix in an editor; replace or regenerate the incorrect product shot. Review the complete sequence after combining the corrected assets.
Before you decide
- Protect approved elements.
- Do not hide factual visual errors.
- Set a retry limit.
