AI Topic Ideas vs Keyword Volume: What Each Can Tell You
An LLM can suggest questions and organize a topic space; it cannot turn those suggestions into measured search demand without a real data source.

An LLM can suggest questions and organize a topic space; it cannot turn those suggestions into measured search demand without a real data source. Use generated ideas as hypotheses, then compare them with Search Console, observed audience questions and search results. Keep opportunity scores clearly separate from search-volume numbers so the content plan does not acquire false precision.
Documentation basis: Google people-first content guidance; Google Search spam policies. The recommendations below are editorial analysis and original teaching exercises, not a hands-on product benchmark or a forecast of search performance.
What is an LLM useful for in topic research?
It can expand a real customer problem into related decisions, troubleshooting questions and workflow constraints. Give it evidence from actual conversations or site queries. Ask for missing angles rather than hundreds of arbitrary product pairings that have no demonstrated audience need.
What does Search Console establish?
It shows how your site appeared and performed for the reported period and filters. It is not a complete market keyword database. A query absent from your report may still have demand; a query with impressions does not automatically deserve a separate article.
How should social discussion be used?
Treat repeated questions as evidence of a problem and useful language. Engagement counts show activity on that platform, not Google searches. Verify the product facts independently and note when several posts come from the same promotional campaign rather than independent users.
What makes a transparent priority score?
State the criteria: audience fit, observed evidence, distinct intent, ability to provide a useful answer and maintenance burden. Label the score as editorial judgment. Do not attach invented monthly-search estimates or a predicted ranking probability to make the plan look more scientific.
When should a topic be merged instead of published?
Merge it when the same reader can get the complete answer from an existing page without a separate decision. Keep a new page for a genuinely distinct task or audience. A large idea list is a research asset, not an instruction to create one URL per phrase.
A practical exercise
Take twenty proposed topics. Mark each as observed in your own queries, observed in community questions or inferred. Assign an owning page and identify what original example or resource you can add. Publish the topics with a clear audience and distinct answer first; keep uncertain angles as sections or a backlog.
Before you decide
- Label measured and inferred evidence.
- Cluster overlapping intent.
- Require a useful contribution.
